MAHALO HONOLULU!

The “Aloha Kauai” fundraising event in downtown Honolulu was an epic success! With your generosity and aloha for Kauai, the May 24 event raised over $200,000.00, which will go a long way toward aiding students, families and farmers whose lives were unexpectedly disrupted from the torrential rains on April 15.

Thank you also for supporting our Kauai retailers under the Made in Kauai tent: Aunty Lilikoi, Hanalima Bakery, Kauai Coffee, Kauai Granola, Kauai Kookie, Kunoa Cattle Company, and Tip Top! Thanks to your generosity, 100 bags were sold, providing these retailers with income to compensate for many weeks of lost revenue.

And a very special MAHALO to the thirty-something “yes” volunteers from First Hawaiian Bank. First Hawaiian Bank is truly an island institution where their motto (“yes”) resonates from top to bottom!

Texaco’s “No Brainer Putting Challenge” brought UH coaches out – Laura Beeman, Charlie Wade, Eran Ganot, Nick Rolovich, Robyn Ah Mow Santos – and made one lucky guest (Janice – sorry, in the excitement, no one caught her last name) a very happy camper with a $350 gas gift card from Texaco.

The award winning Josh Tatofi and his band opened the event up and set the mood for the rest of the evening. Mahalo John Cruz for flying in from Maui to play a wonderful set with Robi Kahalakau. And the legendary Henry Kapono ended an already stellar evening with a classic Kapono concert. Maybe a few of you were able to catch the event as it was live streamed by Hawaiian Music Live.

While the heavy work is now done and the plastic cups and napkins have been swept from the ground, you can still support “Aloha Kauai.” Monetary donations can be sent to Grove Farm Foundation at 3-1850 Kaumualii Highway, Lihue, HI. 96786. Donations are tax-deductible.
